We survived the first day of preschool

Well, it's official. We are back to living in the sweltering heat and humidity of Houston.  We had only three days to adjust to the time change and prepare for Betsy's first day of school.  I frantically went to work on unpacking boxes, re-washing everything and then ironing tiny little name labels into every piece of clothing that kiddo owns.

And then it was the big day.

My girl woke up feeling "a little bit nervous", which we explained was perfectly normal and that certainly every little boy and girl were also feeling a little bit nervous too.

She clung to Daddy's leg, not wanting to venture into her classroom alone.  It was pathetic.  Kids all around us were crying as parents proudly snapped their photos and tried to manage just a tiny little smile.

We gave our last hugs and handed her off...
and away she went, straight for the dollhouse.

  1. she is adorable!! are you kinda still crying...b/c i don't know you and i'm kinda tearing up.

i dropped my 4 yr old niece off at pre-school and when she marched down the hallway in a single file to her class i burst out crying. it was a spontaneous reaction (prolly to my own age)

  4. She cried when she realized that we weren't staying. The second we were out of sight, I started crying and couldn't stop until we got to the car. I promised myself that I wouldn't... but who was I kidding?? :)

  5. Jen! She's precious - you did it! You made it through the first day....whew - that was the hard part. ;) I wish I could say it could get easier each year....

Continuing to pray for you as you continue to transition back to TX.

PS - her dress is to die-for....

  6. Love her outfit, so cute! I know how you feel, I was so on the fence about sending our little one last year to 3-4 year old preschool. We sent her, it was only 2 days a week, and I think she got a lot out of it. This year is 3 days, not sure how she will like that, we will see...

  7. Look at her go!!!! She is such a doll...so cute. I've noticed that the waterworks turn on WAY easier when you have kids.

You'll be back in Seattle before you know it!

    xoxo,
    Carol
